Feeling the Shift
Lately, I’ve been taking life in smaller bites. I’m not measuring in days or weeks, but in events. For example, I had two parades and National Night Out with Rosabelle, representing Carbon County Search and Rescue. Outside of that? Not much. There were definitely other things that could have used my attention—but they weren’t within my bandwidth.
One of my go-to strategies to avoid overwhelm is setting very clear boundaries with myself, and honoring them. The only time I switch gears is when it’s truly impossible to keep going in the direction I’m headed. Here in Wyoming, you always need a Plan B—wind being the number one reason!
I’ve been making detailed, time-blocked lists, starring priority items like appointments, work, and commitments. Once those three are handled, I give myself permission to shift again—this time leaning into creativity.
Right now, I’m working on a few different things:
~Artistic, tangible pieces I’d like to sell.
~A mini-course I’ve been building all year, focused on fear, self-doubt, and confidence with horses. The words and format came easily—but now comes the hard part: stepping out of my shell and in front of the camera to speak!
So I’m reminding myself to trust the process, have faith, and stop being so dang judgmental of myself. Seasons change, shells crack open, and we all get to decide how much of our light to let through.
Your Turn
What about you? As the season shifts, what strategies help you keep your balance and move forward without overwhelm? How do you know when it’s time to step out of your own shell? I’d love to hear your thoughts—share them in the comments or send me a note.
